Online communities & non-profits

Downtown Women's Club Facebook PageWhen Diane Danielson founded the Downtown Women’s Club (DWC) back in 1998, the first tenet was that to save costs, everyone must communicate by email. While she met with some resistance, it set the tone for the club that has continued to grow nationally through social media.

The DWC launched its first blog in 2003 and the first social network for business women in the US in 2006. Today, the DWC has given their local chapters independence and DKD New Media manages only the DWC+ Online Membership and Affiliate programs. This consists of:

  • online advertising
  • website/blog
  • Facebook page
  • LinkedIn group
  • DWC+ member directory
  • Discounts & Freebies
  • eBooks
  • Teleclasses
  • Online affiliate program

Over the years, the DWC has won awards and recognition including finalist for the Stevie Awards’ best new service for women (DWC+ member directory) and national network. The DWC blog and Diane Danielson’s twitter stream on behalf of the club have also been frequently mentioned on many “Best of” lists.

Milestones for Children is a non-profit  with a mission to raise funds to support finding cures for rare pediatric diseases. They engaged DKD New Media to help them with a campaign to get people to donate $21 dollars in 21 days in February leading up to February 28th which is Rare Disease Day.  They knew that they needed social media to raise awareness of this campaign and DKD New Media helped them form a strategy and implement a social media campaign including Facebook, Twitter and e-newsletters.
